Could this be the iPhone 5?

By | May 16, 2011, 7:52am PDT

Summary: Are you ready for the next-gen iPhone? Leaked photos over the weekend suggest the next iteration of the iPhone could feature a display that stretches to the edge of the case, and a rear flash and camera that are further apart than the iPhone 4.

With the iPhone 5 expected to be unveiled this fall, hints on what the next iPhone will feature ahead of its launch are picking up steam. Leaked photos over the weekend suggest the next iteration of the iPhone could feature a display that stretches to the edge of the case, and a rear flash and camera that are further apart than the iPhone 4.

GadgetsDNA first reported photos of the alleged iPhone 5 cases from Kulcase, which surfaced on Alibaba.com, a business-to-business trading site for Chinese manufacturers and suppliers. “It’s worth paying attention to these designs as Asian suppliers often get the details of the device ahead of the official launch,” according to the news site. These cases have two rear holes and a thiner bezel to accommodate the wider screen so they clearly aren’t meant for the iPhone 4 but a close cousin of it.

According to AppleInsider, the often accurate Apple.pro also published a photo comparing the camera component of both the iPhone 4 and purported iPhone 5, which shows a rear flash and camera lens that are wider apart that support the case layout of the Kulcase designs.

(Of course, there is a chance that this is not an iPhone 5 at all but just an upgrade of the iPhone 4. So technically speaking, and following the naming tradition of previous-gen iPhones, this particular version could be the iPhone 4GS, but I digress.)

What would you change in your iPhone 4? What other specs have you heard that you think will be incorporated into the next-gen iPhone?

Looks too ugly to be true silly PERIOD

The idea of stretching the display to the edge is terrible; don't want to keep making typos just by holding the edges of the phone plain

The idea of having the camera lens and the flash separated spoils the use of the flash, especially in shady areas.

What would you change in your iPhone 4?

Though I own only the iPhone 3GS, what I would change is the layout of the antennas in order to prevent the bugs that were in the case-free iPhone 4; plus, add more RAM, perhaps up to 1GB happy ; finally a much faster processor, perhaps a 1.1GHz wink

This whole "leak" thing comes across as TERRIBLE reporting. But I guess that is what you get in today's "everyone a blogger" reporting.

Please consider the source of this picture. They have come up with SO MANY fakes that to even consider this as an iPhone 5 makes you all (those reporting on this) foolish.

Sigh.

It really looks terrible and to be a Photoshop hack.. the icons are so small I would think that it would scale to look like icons on the current iPhone or introduce a 5th row of icons...
