Dell Streak drops to $99.99 with contract at Best Buy

Summary: After popping up in Best Buy stores in October, the Dell Streak tablet is now significantly cheaper.

After popping up in Best Buy stores in October, the Dell Streak tablet is now significantly cheaper.

The Streak was previously available for $299.99 with a two-year service contract with AT&T. Now buyers will only have to fork over $99.99 and their signatures to a two-year agreement. The unlocked, unsubsidized price remains at $499.99.

Why the price drop? Best Buy hasn't revealed anything. It could be the holidays. Or maybe the device just isn't that popular (many Android-based tablets haven't been so far), and the mega-retailer wants to clear some stock before the New Year and some promised new slate PC debuts at CES 2011.

I think it's a bit too small. I'd rather have a full on phone that's a little smaller, than this 5 inch thing.

7 inches is the sweet spot for a tablet, and that's what I'm going to get.

@Droid101 I would rather have one device that can work as both a tablet and phone and for that the device needs to be truly portable. 7" is a great size, but would probably still use it mostly at home and none of the ones released to date in the US can make voice calls.

I think with the update to 2.2, the Steak is a completely different animal. It takes the device to the top of the best truly portable media internet devices on the market.
