Delta Air Lines opens 'ticket window' on Facebook

By | August 13, 2010, 9:26am PDT

Summary: It’s getting pretty close to the day when you’ll be able to do just about anything on Facebook. Now you can even book plane tickets on Delta Air Lines on the social networking hub.

It’s getting pretty close to the day when you’ll be able to do just about anything on Facebook. Now you can even book plane tickets with Delta Air Lines on the social networking hub.

The “ticket window” is open to all of Facebook’s approximately 500 million members on the airline’s Facebook page. Users can click on the “Book A Trip” tab at the top, and the rest is intuitive.

Apparently Delta isn’t planning to stop there as the airline will eventually allow for booking tickets through online banner advertisements. To continue the social media love, the airline will also release an iPhone app for checking into and monitoring flights, among other things, but no release date was given yet.

I can't see any negatives to it as long as it doesn't post onto your wall that you just bought tickets for xx trip at yy price or the date of the tickets.

Given Facebook's track record thus far regarding security and the privacy of it's users.

The city of New York should be ecstatic about this.
