Digital Storm unleashes Black|OPS Assassin gaming desktop

By | May 12, 2010, 4:40am PDT

Summary: Digital Storm has unveiled a very serious-sounding Black|OPS Assassin gaming desktop computer, with a base price of $2,387.

Digital Storm has unveiled a very serious-sounding Black|OPS Assassin desktop computer. Targeted heavily towards the gaming consumer demographic, it’s expected to perform well with a sub-zero liquid cooling system.

Performance temperature seems to be the central focus of this release. The latest member of the Black|OPS desktop series, the powerful Assassin is packaged in a aluminum chassis designed to take “advantage of heat’s natural tendency to rise.” Cold air is pumped in and circulated by a trio of 180mm fans. Partnered with the liquid cooling system already mentioned, all this should deliver overclock speeds of 4.4GHz and higher.

There are three configuration options for the Assassin, priced at $2,387, $2,535 and $2,693. All three are powered by an Intel Core i7-930 2.8GHz CPU and feature 6GB of DDR3 1600MHz RAM, an EVGA X58 motherboard, 750W power supply and run on Windows 7 Home.

The major difference is when it comes to the GPU. Those options, ranging from cheapest to most expensive, are NVIDIA GeForce GTX 470 1.2GB, ATI Radeon HD 5870 1GB or GeForce GTX 480 1.5GB.

All three buying options are available for purchase now and come with a three-year warranty.
