Plenty of restaurants, airlines and whatnot have turned the iPad into an amenity.  Fairmont Properties is looking to do the same with the Kobo eReader.

Fairmont is starting off with the Kobo at 10 locations, and use of the devices will be free for Fairmont Gold-level guests. Each Kobo will be pre-loaded with fiction and non-fiction e-books from Random House publishing. To top it off, guests will get a whopping $2-off coupon for select titles from Random House.

While it’s nice to see hotels upgrading their technology amenities, especially the older establishments, this doesn’t really seem like something that would really entice me to book a room at one of these Fairmont locations. Not like I’m a Fairmont Gold-level member anyway, but still.
