This lighter version is free and retains some of the basic functions. If you're not familiar with Foodspotting, the location-based app allows users post and share photos snapped with their smartphones. The images are supposed to be of special menu items at a given restaurant, cafe, bar, etc.

Users can search for restaurants in the neighborhood using the phone's GPS function and then sort through the photos to find something appealing. This works well when you're craving something in particular.

Later versions will be designed to interact with other guides and display results in a profile view. Foodspotting is also apparently hiring, so if you love both food and developing, this could be your dream job!
