RE: Full specs: Motorola CLIQ Android phone with 'Motoblur' for T-Mobile

Im from the Netherlands and still waiting for the launch of the Motorola Cliq. It will probably be available in a fourtnight. However the Dutch version will be white. But I think the Samsung will be the most appealing Android phone up till now (Amoled display, battery, etc).

I'm a webdesigner and love internet and it's possibilities. And Android/Google will make the future different. Hopefully it will be a better place, but surely it will be fun.

Hope to receive my Galaxy soon. Then I will post my experiences on http://www.Motorola-Cliq.com Also hope to learn a lot here of the Samsung and Android.

How does it charge?
bmgoodman 10th Sep 2009
I'd like all cell phone articles to list what type of connector is used to charge the phone. Mini USB, Micro USB, or something proprietary? I've heard cell phone makers for the European market have agreed to voluntarily begin using Micro USB on *all* their phones starting in 2010. I'm hoping this common-sense approach makes it to the U.S. soon, and highlighting the connector type in *all* articles should make this more than just an afterthought. Imagine having one charger for all your phones....

It looks like Micro-USB

The full specs show a Micro-USB V2.0 port running up to 32GB transfer speed. That port undoubtably is the charging port as well.

What about flash?
dave@... 10th Sep 2009
A smart phone needs lots of storage. A multimedia capable smart phone all the more. What's the internal flash size? Is there a microSD slot?

The phrase "MicroUSB 2.0 high-speed up to 32GB" implies a MicroUSB connector, which is good, in the sense this is now the agree-upon standard for phone charging, going forward. But bad, if it implies that, like the Palm Pre, the only add-on memory is via a USB "on the go" option.

That might have occasional value, but no one wants to juggle a flash module and cable plugged into a breakable connector in a pocket-sized device. The memory expansion needs to be inside.
What differentiates this product from the MyTouch Android
already available on T-Mobile? I have the first gen Android
and don't see a reason to upgrade from that phone, which is
quite excellent.

Faster, thinner...

Looks like faster CPU, thinner and more memory...
Full specs should include the processor type and speed, ram and storage memory. Is this information available?
Motorola has a nice site setup for CLIQ, but alas no core details (CPU, Mem, etc...) Here's the link:

http://www.motorola.com/Consumers/US-EN/Consumer-Product-and-Services/Mobile-Phones/Motorola-CLIQ-US-EN

This looks to be the phone that I'd love to get to replace my XV6800 (HTC Titan). It appears to be fantastic. Now I just need to see if the few apps I use daily have replacement apps for it!
That is the point of my question, thank you. I would like to see side by side comparisons of this Motorola phone which looks great, next to MyTouch.
Does this mean T-Mobil is going with this instead of the Nokia N-900? *Sigh* I was sooooo looking forward to the 900 sad .
Get a grip people. If a device doesn't have multitouch, then it can't make step one on the journey to iPhone-ness.

Period.

I think the idea should be 'go beyond' the iPhone. Apple went beyond everything else that was in the market at the time and it has worked. Nokia and others need to come up with the 'next phone' to get past iPhone - unless Apple does before anyone else again.
I was dying to get a GSM Palm Pre, but that phone seems Sprint CDMA locked since forever, so I'll go with this one, which looks to have better keyboard, memory, and a trade between WebOS for Android looks like trading 6 for half-a-dozen, eager for one.
