2. Get a refurbished HP Pavilion dv7-1245dx Notebook PC from CompUSA.com for $579.97, down from $1,149.99. The laptop has a 17-inch screen, and a 320GB hard drive. CNET's review says the dv7-1245dx has an attractive design, which skips the usual gray and black. It also has good battery life for a desktop replacement.

3. Get the Canon FS10 Flash Memory Camcorder (refurbished) at CompUSA for $199.99, down from $399.99. The camera has a 37x optical zoom, and a 2000x digital zoom. It also has an 8GB internal flash drive, as well as an option to add an removable SDHC card. The FS10 has a 2.7-inch LCD.
