Gateway has chosen to spruce up their NV notebook line with a new laptop that is available in an assortment of shades and includes an interesting button dedicated exclusively to social networking.

The NV series originally consisted of two computers: the 15.6-inch NV5 and 17.3-inch NV7. Screen size is really the most significant difference between these two laptops.

An alteration of the NV5 will be hitting shelves first, with the cryptic name “NV59C09u.” The two major innovations to be seen with this new portable computer is a variety of exterior colors to choose from (black, blue and red) plus a one-touch social networking button. When pressed, this key will bring up a special interface with direct access and updates from sites like Facebook, YouTube and Flickr.

It’s unfortunate they didn’t put more emphasis on that six-cell Li-ion battery, which promises to last only up to 4.5 hours after a full charge.

Otherwise, there are the basic specs to look for, including:

  • Windows 7 Home Premium
  • Intel Core i3-330M processor
  • Intel HM55 chipset
  • 15.6-inch HD ultra-bright LCD widescreen display
  • 320GB SATA hard drive
  • 4x Blu-ray drive
  • 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi
  • Gigabit Ethernet LAN
  • HD webcam
  • Multi-in-1 digital card reader
  • Connectivity: Three USB 2.0 Ports, HDMI

The NV59C09u is available now, and news on the 17-inch edition should pop up in a few weeks.
