Gateway's latest notebook release of the day is the NV59C66u, which stands out given that it has an optional integrated WiMAX card. But couldn't they have thought of a simpler code name?

Moving on, buyers of the NV59C66u laptop can choose a WiMAX service provider should they live in a metropolitan area where there is WiMAX service. The internal Intel 6250 wireless card works with both WiMAX and 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi networks, so this computer would be well suited for those who travel often and need to be connected to the Internet often.

As for what else is inside that espresso metal chassis, let's take a look:

  • 15.6- or 17.1-inch LED-backlit TFT HD widescreen display (1,280 x 1,024 or 1,600 x 900 resolutions respectively)
  • Intel Core i3/i5 or AMD Athlon/Turion processor options
  • 4GB of DDR3 memory (Expandable up to 8GB)
  • 320GB to 500GB of hard drive space
  • DVD or Blu-ray optical drive
  • Multi-gesture touchpad with lock
  • Numeric keypad
  • HD webcam
  • Media card reader
  • Dedicated "social networking button" for Facebook, Flickr, YouTube and other sites
  • Connectivity: USB, HDMI, Ethernet

The Gateway NV Series will roll out over the coming weeks, starting at $479.99. If you want that WiMAX card, the NV59C66u is ready now for $699.99.
