Getac is giving its extremely rugged V100 laptop computer some powerful internal upgrades, including a new Intel Core i7 1.2GHz processor.
The V100 looks as far from a normal notebook computer as one could get. But it should withstand the tests of time and damage, as the magnesium alloy case is highly resistant to drops, dust and moisture. Even the rubber keyboard is supposed to be waterproof.
With Core i7 and Turbo Boost technology, the new and improved V100 is up to “47% faster” than its predecessor. Here’s a look at what else is inside that tough-looking machine:
- 10.4-inch 1,200-NIT LED display
- Windows 7 OS (Downgrade option: Windows XP)
- 320GB shock-mounted hard drive (Or optional SATA 80GB SSD drive)
- Bluetooth
- PCMCIA expansion slot
- SD card reader
- 2.0-megapixel webcam
- Optional 3G
- Optional GPS
- Optional fingerprint scanner
Unfortunately, there’s no price attached to this upgraded version yet. And when things at the store don’t have a price tag, that means they are expensive.
