Google's Nexus coming to AT&T July 24th for $99

By | July 21, 2011, 8:36am PDT

Summary: AT&T subscribers looking for the pure Android experience should look no further than the Nexus S, which is making its way to AT&T this Sunday.

The best phone available for Sprint and T-Mobile is finally making its way to AT&T. The Nexus S will land at Best Buy and Best Buy Mobile stores on July 24th (this Sunday) for the pleasant price of $99 on contract. The flagship Google phone brings with it Android 2.3, a 4-inch display, 1 GHz processor, and a battery said to provide 6.5 hours of talk time.

AT&T has already opened pre-orders for the device. But is the Nexus S something that AT&T subscribers have really been waiting for? It is, after all, already eight months old.

Now, the big question is, when’s it going to be Verizon’s turn?

@opcom I would agree with this as well. I never could stick with Verizon because of the way they cripple their phones with all that garbage 'V' branded crap.

And while I've been an iPhone user since the original one came out, I'm a little intrigued by this Google device. I like the way they look on paper. I might have to hit the Best Buy this weekend and see what it's all about in person.

I'd really love to see Google release something in response to the upcoming iPhone 5. I'd really love to carry a Google phone I think based on the reviews and specs...
$99??? Can you say Google is desperate LOL
@Hasam1991

What are you talking about. $99 is just the bait to sucker you into a two year contract!
@wkulecz
No I think with last 20,000,000 iphones sold in 3 months, they are probably worried about iPhone 5..

Sort of like AT&T "desperately" selling the iPhone 3GS for $49
@Michael_Martin I'm pretty sure they're selling the 3Gs for $49 because it's several years old now. Just like with video game systems (the PS2 was down to what, $99 at one point?), computers, clothes, shoes, cameras, socks, peanut butter, meat, vegetables, you name it, the price drops the older it gets. I don't see any desperation. I just see them trying to get rid of an old (but still capable) device and maybe cater to some of the people that don't want to drop $200 on a new iPhone 4...

The consumer's cost for this phone is no different than the cost for many wireless provider-branded phones. The only difference is that it isn't loaded down with all of the carrier's crap-ware. When I left AT&T for T-Mobile, the only phone I was interested in was one with "Pure-Android". It's a GREAT phone and handheld computer WITHOUT any T-Mobile crap-ware.
Without crapware is a compelling feature
@stewsr
Yes sir, zero crapware is a cause for great celebration. All phones being about the same, meaning you can pick what you want due to the service plans, "no crapware" is a top item on my list.
