Grace Digital Audio has unveiled another Internet radio device for your living room, but the Tuner Wi-Fi Radio & Media Player isn’t as great a deal as it might look at first glance.

The best part about this Grace Digital creation is that users can access and listen to content from 30,000 Internet radio stations and other services like Pandora, Sirius, and NPR on-demand. Listeners can do this wirelessly via 802.11g Wi-Fi or old-fashioned Ethernet, and they can also stream content from a Mac or PC over the network to be played over this system.

However, you need to plug it into a regular home stereo for actual playback. Yet, probably the biggest problem with the Tuner Wi-Fi Player is the price tag: $219.99. That’s a lot to ask for a system that requires another system to actually operate. If you want one of these, hopefully you have an already existing compatible stereo so you don’t have to throw down more cash for a companion to the Tuner Wi-Fi Player.

Rachel, I think you miss the point. Grace Digital has internet radios with speakers in them. This one is to connect to your current home stereo to listen on your home stereo speakers. Have you checked out the market for an internet radio tuner with multiple digital outs? Logitech has a cool one for about $1,000. If you want an awesome interface per the press release you attached they have a free iphone remote control app. Of course you have to be one of the 40 million people who have an iphone to get the real cool interface.

C'mon guys!

This is a STEREO COMPONENT. Remember those, from way back in the hi-fi days? It shouldn't be too hard to hook up to most stereo systems and the price is right IMHO. One of this first HD radios was packaged this way as well.
Gosh, Rachel, are you saying I should be forced to have ANOTHER stereo amplifier sitting on top of my home theater's amplifier? And probably have to pay an ADDITIONAL $750 for the (alleged) privilige?

No thanks, my friend. I'll be happy with a sleek little Internet tuner that does one job well and doesn't require replacement when my amp blows a circuit even though there's nothing wrong with it.

You children today have no concept of frugality.
