The auto industry may be in a tizzy, but that doesn’t mean you can’t get a great deal on a new vehicle. And who doesn’t love a little holiday cheer in the form of a four-wheel gift? Here are 2008’s best cars, trucks, minivans, SUVs and hybrids.

Toyota PriusBest Green Car: Toyota Prius

The hybrid Prius is still the best such car out there, despite the introduction of several new hybrid models this year. Why? It’s all about the numbers: the Prius’ 44 mpg overall is still the best of any five-passenger car. Add reliability, versatility and a $24,000 price tag, and we’d go green, too.

Whoa! $18,000? I bet if those people who doesn't have any idea about this car would probably think the price is too much. If they only see each hyundai parts installed on this car, they probably gonna understand.

The '09 Jetta is available with VW's new 'Clean Diesel' TDI engine.

I traded in my '04 TDI for an '09 model. What a step up in power and comfort!

50 MPG at 55 MPH, 40 MPG at 80 Mph. And - there's more than 200 ft/lbs of torque at your disposal, so you get a sporty car when you want to accelerate, an economy car when you're ready to just cruise.

Hybrid cars seem like a great deal, until you factor in the anemic acceleration and then the inevitable battery replacement costs. Diesel technology is where the future lies, as Bio-Diesel make more energy-sense than ethanol.
