Hewlett-Packard unveiled a brand new, super slim display this morning: the 23-inch HP 2310e HD widescreen display.

For starters, here are a few of the important specs to note on the 1-inch thick, white LED-backlit HP 2310e:

  • Full HD 1,920 x 1,080 resolution
  • 8,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio
  • 16:9 aspect ratio
  • 250 nits of brightness
  • 5ms on/off response time
  • Displays 70% of the color gamut

Connectivity is relatively simple with HDMI, DVI-D and DisplayPort sockets. It should also be easy to move around as the base is detachable, but the HP 2310e lacks a Vesa mount on the back.

Lastly, there are a few hints of green present on the HP 2310e. It should be noted that the WLED backlighting is mercury-free, the glass is arsenic-free, and the rear cover and base are made from recycled plastics. The HP2310e has been awarded a number of eco-friendly certifications, namely the Energy Star 5.0 rating.

The HP2310e is expected to retail forĀ $289 when it goes on sale on September 29.

No VESA
archangel9999 15th Sep 2010
What are they thinking? Who builds a new monitor these days without a VESA mount?
@archangel9999
i have noticed that with alot of the LED monitors. i have an asus LED that also does not have VESA mounts because the monitor is so thin that the screws are longer than the monitor is thick and would hit back of screen. the support system would make the monitor thicker and heavier. mine is only 8Lbs and uses a small shelf to basically mount it on the wall since it is light. is a trade off
@eriksmalley
It's a design and engineering failure. There are many ways to mount a VESA plate, not only with screws.
@eriksmalley
Maybe they should come out with a special plate to mount onto these thin screens to adapt to VESA?
@eriksmalley Thanks for sharing. i really appreciate it that you shared with us such a informative post..

I've been waiting for a HP LED, and hoping to high heaven that it would have a VESA mount. G*DD**N it. Sheesh.
