SLCD isn’t a shabby alternative to AMOLED, thus it’s probably a smart move for HTC in order to keep up with demand. HTC is specifically bringing this material to mobile phones with 3.7-inch displays, and apparently the battery will benefit from SLCD as well.

But it’s interesting that HTC is rolling out SLCDs on a pair of smartphones that aren’t even available for purchase in the U.S. market anymore.

The original screens are horrible, the red is dreadfully overdriven and the thing is unusable in sunlight. This is an upgrade.

HINT: Google canceled NexusOne

So HTC is not puting an LCD on a NexusOne because Google is just selling the unsold inventory. There are no new NexusOne on the making.

Sure, HTC may be able to use the same specs, but legally they will have to rename the model.
