HTC's Facebook-ready Status coming to AT&T July 17th

Officially unveiled last month, HTC's Facebook-soaked Status finally has a release date: July 17th. The phone will sell for $49.99 with a two-year contract - an ideal price point for a phone aimed less at power users and more at the most eager of Facebook fans. (Your teenage daughter, perhaps?)

Here are the device's specifications, not that they are too important in this case:

  • Platform: Android™ 2.3 + HTC Sense
  • Display: 2.6-inch touch screen with 480 x 320 resolution
  • Network: Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 UMTS/HSDPA 850/1900
  • Memory: 512 MB RAM, 512 MB ROM
  • Processor: MSM7227, 800 MHz
  • Battery: Rechargeable lithium-ion battery, 1250 mAh
  • Camera resolution: 5 MP main camera with autofocus, VGA  front-facing camera

    I think they need a smaller screen. I don't think my daugther would give up her Inspire for this.

    I belived is going to be a failure, why would I spend that money on a phone has alot of limitations, while I can get an I phone with virtually almost unlimited possiblities.
