At least that is what Hulu is hoping. According to AllThingsD, going with a slashed price "would indicate that consumers haven’t bought in to the pitch." The Los Angeles Times adds that the change could take place as soon as within the next week.
It's not terribly surprising that Hulu would make this move. Considering how many Internet TV options there are now via HDTVs, Netflix's Watch Instantly service online and on multiple gaming consoles, and even other iPad apps besides Hulu, who wants to shell out another $9.99 for access to some more TV programming?
It is especially troubling to consider paying this with LAT adds that certain networks are pulling current episodes of popular shows, which was the whole point of this premium service in the first place.
Do you subscribe to Hulu Plus? And if you don't, would a $4.99 monthly subscription fee make you jump on board?

I think this is more the reason people didn't jump to buy it. Taken away what I have so you can charge me to get it back not a good idea.
Also there are still ads to watch so still not getting much for $4.99

Yes, but because I DVR all TV I watch, I skip past the commercials.
Regular TV is "free"
Although you might pay for cable or sattelite, that is for the "service" (infrastructure, network, etc), not necessarily for the content. The content is paid for by ads ...on most channels. All the "major" networks are available over the air for free.
Anyway, the bottom line is: WTF is the point of PAYING for a premium service if it still has ads???
I will NEVER do that. I gladly pay my yearly subscription fee for Pandora so that I don't have to listen to ads. If ads were still part of the premium services, why would you pay?

If it were commercial free, that would help a lot.
If some of the premium channel on cable were
suddenly available via streaming, that would be great.
I don't have cable, but if I bet if you could get 3 or 4
of the top channels more people would switch over
entirely to Hulu, even if it still had the commercials.

if they are going to play games by making SOME episodes of SOME shows avaliable sometimes, I won't be one of the somebodies who pay $5.
I won't pay for a plus service if I still have to watch ads. End of story.
