Apple has just announced that the international launch date for the iPad will be Friday, May 28. For eager buyers abroad, pre-orders will start on May 10.

The first wave will hit nine countries: Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. The second wave will commence on an unspecified date in July in the following locations: Austria, Belgium, Hong Kong, Ireland, Luxembourg, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand and Singapore.

Pricing hasn’t been revealed yet, nor have service providers for 3G connection, but that will most likely follow the pattern set by the iPhone.

Apple’s international release announcement follows an initial delay back in April after demand surged higher than the Cupertino company predicted. This theory has been called into question, but nonetheless, at least we now have an international timeline.

UPDATE: Pricing in the UK has been announced. The Wi-Fi only version will sell for £429/£499/£599 in 16/32/64GB capacities, respectively. The Wi-Fi/3G-enabled models will cost £529/£599/£699 in that same order.
