If you're already tired of the Apple iPad media blitz, unfortunately you'll have to sit tight as it's only going to get bigger in the coming weeks until the tablet is released on April 3. And that probably won't be the end of it either.
The first iPad television ad spot premiered during what was otherwise considered a dull Oscars broadcast, and the commercial itself is being reviewed as fairly routine as well. But Apple CEO Steve Jobs actually traded his signature black turtleneck and jeans ensemble for a monkey suit last night when he graced the red carpet at the Oscars in Hollywood. I don't think he pops up at award shows that often, so I'm guessing his appearance had something to do with iPad promotion. The man works nonstop! You can get a glimpse of him here in this Where's Waldo-reminiscent photo.
Actually, the overwhelming amount of coverage of the iPad feels more like that of a blockbuster movie media release than that of a gadget. I just hope I don't see action figures of Jobs or mini-rubber iPad toys in a McDonald's Happy Meal soon.
So what did you guys think of the first iPad ad, and will all this effort really pay off? Or does promotion even matter for Apple anymore?
