iPhone 4 mania invades France (photos)

Summary: The iPhone 4 didn’t just launch in the United States today. The first wave of the international launch took place in the U.K., Germany, Japan and France, where lines at Paris’ flagship Apple Store were très, très long.

The iPhone 4 didn’t just launch in the United States today. The first wave of the international launch took place in the U.K., Germany, Japan and France, where lines at Paris‘ flagship Apple Store were très, très long.

It’s hard to walk far in Paris without seeing someone one talking en Français on an iPhone or working on their Macbooks at the local café (this is actually true these days, as hard as it might be to believe). So, naturally the scene at the Apple Store in the Carrousel du Louvre was quite the French mob scene given the brand’s popularity in la République Française. There was also a train strike in France today, so perhaps the crowd multiplied thanks to those not going to work.

Either way, the bottom of the Louvre’s shopping center was so crowded this morning and into the afternoon that it was impossible to enter without joining the queue with hundreds of other Parisians. Here’s a glimpse:

As much as I like Apple products, I still don't see myself standing in line for hours to purchase an electronic device. I did once stand in line for Pink Floyd tickets. happy
