As I decide which gadgets to bring with me to DisneyWorld, I have a new-found appreciation for more rugged toys that are waterproof, especially cameras and camcorders. It would make for some neat photos and videos capturing the viewing from the Splash Mountain ride, say, without fear that I would brick my gear. Kodak has two cameras that seem to fit the bill: the PlaySport camcorder (pictured above) and EasyShare Sport point-and-shooter.

The PlaySport Zx5 video recorder is not only waterproof up to 10 feet and can survive drops of up to 5 feet, it is also shock- and dustproof so you can film everything from your snorkeling adventures, camping trips to the beach. It has auto-focus, face-tracking, built-in digital image stabilization, records in 1080p and also takes stills at 5-megapixels. The camcorder features a 2" LCD display where you can see what you're shooting, apply effects and even edit what you've captured in-camera. You can either move files off the camcorder via the included USB cable or a SD/SDHC card up to 32 GB. When your camera is plugged into your computer, you can tag the videos and photos you would like to upload to the Web using Kodak's Share Button, according to Digital Cameras and Camcorders' Janice Chen. Available now from major electronics stores and Kodak.com in black, red and aqua, the PlaySport camcorder retails for $179.95.

Like the PlaySport camcorder, the EasyShare Sport camera can be dunked into 10 of water and is dustproof, which means it would also make a good camping and beach companion, though I wouldn't go diving with it. This 12-megapixel point-and-shooter is equipped with a 2.4" display with Smart Capture to track faces, and includes multiple scene and color modes. Although it is first and foremost a digital camera, it can also record VGA videos at 640 × 480, 30 fps. Like the PlaySport camcorder, this camera also has a Share button to make it easy to upload quality shots to share with the online world. It's actually on sale right now at Best Buy for $63.99 (regular $79.99) and comes in red/orange, white, grey, yellow and blue, so there should be a color to match any style.

I got my PlaySport camera about a year and half ago and it has been one of the best products I have ever purchased. I can't recommend it highly enough!
