There are a growing number of TV web browsers these days, but here's one you might not know much about. Hillcrest Labs has revamped its Kylo web browser, and the best thing about this software is that it's free.

Available to download now, the latest version of the Kylo Browser isn't meant to be a treasure trove of videos nor a replacement for Firefox. Hillcrest Labs describes it as a "true Web browser that lets users go where they want across the Internet," which doesn't sound entirely definitive, but let's take a look at the highlights in beta version 0.8:

  • New interface: Improved zooming, more space dedicated to web page, less buttons and controls cluttering the screen
  • Can be launched within Windows Media Center
  • Default search engine can be set to Google, Bing, Yahoo, Ask or Truveo
  • Auto detects U.S. and U.K. locations and updates with relevant content
  • Instant visual search with thumbnail view results, reducing the amount of needed text to type

And if you want that remote clicker in the photo that looks like a steering wheel, the Loop Pointer is available for $69 at the moment, which is $30 less than the regular price. Note that you don't have to get that as Kylo is designed to work with any mouse.

Not sure what all the hype is about. Been using all those features and more with GlideTV http://glidetv.com. Plus GlideTV's whats on feature gives me a better way to browse to find all sorts of movies and TV.

The new instant video search is powered by Clicker.tv. Works fast, is cool to use, and is very comprehensive.
