Lenovo IdeaPad Y560 goes on sale; starts at $949

By | May 13, 2010, 8:58am PDT

Summary: Lenovo’s IdeaPad Y560 is now available with a wide range of configurable options, including the choice of an Intel Core i3/i5/i7 processor.

Lenovo has made yet another laptop computer available this week. This time it is the IdeaPad Y560, with a wide range of configurable options, including the choice of an Intel Core i3/i5/i7 processor.

The 15.6-inch IdeaPad Y560 is available in four possible configurations. Some of the common threats include a six-cell battery, Bluetooth v2.1 + EDR, a dual-layer DVD recordable drive, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5730 1GB graphics and Windows 7 Home Premium.

As far as options go, they’re saved for the big specs such as processor, memory and storage space. Buyers can enjoy 4GB or 8GB of DDR3 1333MHz memory and either a 320GB or 500GB hard drive.

Pricing starts at $949 with that Core i3 2.13GHz processor and goes up to a maximum of $1,599 for a machine powered by a Core i7 1.60GHz CPU. Those prices are before taxes, but it looks like there’s some free shipping involved for now.

@SycoRant - Do you have the PDF still? I bought the Y560 as well, with i7 and 8GB, but was pissed no switcheable graphics, and the bloody fan runs all the time. Send it to jtb1974 -at- gmail. Thanks my friend.

I have never owned a Lenovo product but the IdeaPads are looking more and more appealing. Will be in the market next year to replace my HP laptop, will definitely consider IdeaPad.
I just purchased the top of the line Y560 directly from Lenovo. From everything I read on the Lenovo website, I expected it to come with RapidDrive and Switchable graphics. (I've saved pdfs of the relevant webpages.) After starting it up for the first time yesterday, I found that it had neither. Any company that engages in such blatantly false advertising and deliberately misleads consumers, I would stay away from. I 'm going to try to get my money back as soon as Lenovo's don't work weekends sales people get back in the office. I knew I should have purchased an Apple!
