Lenovo unveils 23-inch ThinkCentre M90z all-in-one desktop; starts at $899

Summary: Lenovo has unveiled the ThinkCentre M90z, which they dub as the “industry’s first large business-focused, 23-inch all-in-one” desktop computer. Well, “first” with a business-angle, maybe.

Lenovo has unveiled the ThinkCentre M90z, which they dub as the “industry’s first large business-focused, 23-inch all-in-one” desktop computer.

Well, “first” with a business-angle, maybe. But 23-inch, all-in-one touchscreen desktops have definitely been around already.

The ThinkCentre M90z has already been put to use by some important organizations, namely the Center for Severe Weather Research team as this thing apparently helps in tracking tornadoes. For a closer look, check out the video, which has the music and presentation reminiscent of a trailer for a summer blockbuster film made by Jerry Bruckheimer.

One of the bright spots when it comes to this Lenovo desktop is evident room for customization, namely choices for DDR3 memory, HDD or SSD space, and either Intel Core i3 or i5 processors. Strangely, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth seem to be optional as well.

But the unfortunate part is that Lenovo fails to be more specific as to what the limits are yet. We do know that it has a 23-inch wide, optical touchscreen with a SimpleTap interface, a webcam, a microphone (with mute), touch-capacitive monitor buttons and auto-brightness control to keep energy usage to a minimum.

All of this sounds like a rather standard, consumer-oriented desktop. The business-friendly part plays in through the high security features (encrypted hard drives, hardware password manager, etc.) and some of Lenovo’s ThinkVantage Technologies productivity tools.

If none of this appeals to you, at least there’s the shining low price tag, with a starting MSRP set at $899. It will be on sale later this month (sorry, no specific date available yet), and you can always watch the promo video on YouTube until then.

@archangel9999 Speakers are not equipped for serious music playback, no 3D card option, webcam does not provide very good image quality, despi te a higher priced system there are no eSata, USB 3.0 or Firewire ports.
Hopefully we will see all-in-one units with large screensm, Arm processors, running Chrome OS starting this fall.
@DonnieBoy What's the purpose of an ARM processor in a desktop?
