MacBook Air might drop in two sizes with 50% larger battery
Given that Apple is hosting another large press event this Wednesday, there seems to be a lot of Mac news (and rumors) floating around again.
Today's rumor installment seems to be focused on the MacBook Air, which will reportedly be available not in one but two sizes.
Cult of Mac is reporting the blog has "independently confirmed" that the MacBook Air will be available as a new 11.6-inch netbook and a revamped 13.3-inch laptop.
Furthermore, the new notebooks should boast battery lives up to 10 hours a piece with a 50% larger battery. We also might be seeing a few Intel Core 2 Duo processor configuration options, but this hasn't been confirmed.
After months of rumors about a new MacBook Air, news regarding this laptop (which hasn't always been the most popular) seems highly probable. ZDNet's Adrian Kingsley-Hughes is predicting that a MacBook Air update at this event is 80% likely to happen.
Yet, pricing still seems debatable at this point. Dropping the costs below the simple MacBook and the highest-end iPad seem unlikely. But if the MacBook Air is going to compete as a netbook, then we're going to need to see some serious improvements and a price drop of some kind as an incentive.
