Mad Catz has finalized a fairly sweet deal with Microsoft for exclusive rights to produce wireless gaming headphones for the Xbox 360.

Those powerful headsets will be equipped with Dolby 5.1 technology. Mad Catz will also be working on other headsets for the Xbox 360 that are tied down by wires within the Tritton series, but no exclusivity there.

The fruits of this agreement will be seen during the holiday season later this year.

  • I'm not too excited.

For those of you out there who have ever used game controllers and other peripherals by Mad Catz, you know what I'm talking about.

exclusive are you kidding me!! turtle beach & tritton have been making wireless 5.1 & 7.1 DDTS headsets that freakin ROCK!! for quite awhile and will continue to dominate that market!! Mad Katz cant even make a desent controller..littleown 5.1dolby wireless..has anyone evertried that nonsense of a headset they made for the 360 with the skinny littly band that went around your ears.and broke the second time you tried to put them on..lol
if they plan on succeeding i hope they can step up there game. because a GOOD affordable option could go quite far.

  • Maybe We'll Get Better Product?

I'm not holding my breath - after all it's Mad Catz. However, I have had Turtle Beach X41's (their top-of-the-line headset for the 360) and I'm disappointed. They only use two speakers to "simulate" surround. It is definitely not better than my home theater setup. When I'm flipping all over the place to find the inbound chopper because the sound doesn't actually lead to the target, it's not good enough.
