Major Samsung news to be announced in August?

Summary: Samsung's Galaxy S series smartphones have already started to drop in the United States, including today's launch of the Samsung Vibrant with T-Mobile. While that was the big announcement back in June, it looks like something else is headed our way from Samsung in August.

Samsung's Galaxy S series smartphones have already started to drop in the United States, including today's launch of the Samsung Vibrant with T-Mobile. While that was the big announcement back in June, it looks like something else is headed our way from Samsung in August.

According to a save the date e-mail, Samsung is holding a press event on Thursday, August 5 at Noon EDT in New York City. Details are beyond sparse - except for the tidbit, "Samsung is about to transform memory and storage products."

We could be looking at a new external hard drive line or maybe new flash solutions to follow the 32GB microSD card.

Any theories?

  • If I had to guess at those sillouettes...

    Left to right:
    New external storage
Desktop RAM (8GB or 16GB on 1 dimm?)
    New SSD lineup
SD chip --your suggestion makes sense
Media extender (new product for delivering content from your PC to TV?)

  • But, the Galaxy S won't generate

    page views.
You need to get back to writing about the iPhone.

    • Give it a rest... Seriously...

@davebarnes <br>I can't speak for everyone, but I'm sure as heck sick and tired of hearing about the iFlop 4. All the blog posts and their respective talkbacks aren't going to change the fact that the engineers screwed up NOR is it going to fix the problems with the bloody thing.

      Time to move on.
