Motorola’s Charm smartphone has gotten an official announcement with spec details, and it will be available with T-Mobile this summer.
The Android 2.1-powered Charm hosts a full QWERTY keyboard, a 2.8-inch touchscreen display and even a navigation pad on the rear of the smartphone. Motorola is also probably pleased with this device since it is the company’s first to integrate its signature Motoblur software with Android 2.1. (Although, we can only hope there is a Froyo update slated eventually.)
Along with the Motoblur synching and direct access to e-mail clients and social networking favorites like Facebook and Twitter, expect Wi-Fi and USB options for connectivity. The 3-megapixel camera is a bit of a downer, although Kodak is involved, so maybe the sample shots will prove worthy.
Other highlights include Adobe Flash support and even a second microphone for noise cancellation. A smartphone that actually focuses on call clarity; imagine that?
Unfortunately, the two details left out were pricing and an exact release date. The most precise timeline Motorola offered was “this summer.” At least that means it can’t be much longer than a couple of months.
