Motorola Droid R2-D2 special edition gets a landing dock

By | September 3, 2010, 11:46am PDT

Summary: Verizon is holding series of games and clues online leading up to the release of the Motorola Droid 2 R2-D2 special edition, set to blast off on September 30. The latest find is a new docking station for the smartphone. Just don’t expect it to look like a rebel base.

Verizon Wireless has published a huge teaser site with a series of games and clues leading up to the release of the Motorola Droid 2 R2-D2 special edition, set to blast off on September 30. The latest find is a new docking station for the smartphone. Just don’t expect it to look like a rebel base.

The sleek white dock, uncovered yesterday, is rather simple but should make the perfect home for your beloved Empire Strikes Back-inspired device. I’m actually relieved this looks more normal and fitting for any desk rather than something in the shape of an X-Wing or Millennium Falcon.

Hopefully this little guy will be sold separately so other Droid 2 owners can still get their hands on one. There are still six pieces of the puzzle left to solve, so get cracking if you still want to play and win your own R2-D2 smartphone.
