NetJets to install Aircell in-flight Wi-Fi service to business fleet

Summary: In-flight Wi-Fi is becoming a prerequisite on commercial flights, but it’s surprising that more business-oriented fleets haven’t been getting the same treatment. NetJets is taking some initiative and bringing Wi-Fi to some of its airplanes soon.

In-flight Wi-Fi is becoming a prerequisite on commercial flights, but it’s surprising that more business-focused fleets haven’t been getting the same treatment. NetJets is taking some initiative and bringing Wi-Fi to some of its airplanes soon.

NetJets currently boasts more than 800 aircraft in its arsenal, but only 250 of the planes with mid- to large-sized cabins will be getting outfitted with Wi-Fi first. The service will eventually be rolled out to the entire fleet. Installations are set to begin this month (presumably they’re still talking about July), but a finish date hasn’t been given.

Having Wi-Fi access seems necessary in this day and age for any businessperson, so it only seems natural that this feature be available on private aircraft. A long flight is the perfect time to get work done…or at least take a Hulu break.
