Nintendo DS Lite discontinued at GameStop

If you’re still interested in picking up a Nintendo DS Lite, you better try to get one as soon as possible because these handheld gaming consoles are as good as gone.

According to the leaked internal memo picked up by GoNintendo, “New DS Lite systems have been discontinued,” and GameStop won’t be getting any more units in stock. Additionally, display models and related items have to be removed from the sales floor.

It’s slightly possible that a few other retailers will still carry the DS Lite, although it doesn’t really make sense for Nintendo to keep producing and pushing this console.

Not only is the DS Lite a few years old, but it would make more sense to clear stock room and shelf space for more recent products, such as the DSi XL and, of course, the 3DS. Maybe it’s time to start thinking about a new generation of the Wii console as well…

Will you miss the DS Lite?

I have the big silver one that I bought years ago.
None of the new ones are appealing. Infact the 3DS is horrible. 3D is a terrible concept and putting it in a mobile console is terrible aswell.

This was inevitable. Lite is definitely the cheapest DS that's available right now (new), so people that only want to play games will be out of luck.

The DS Lite is the last one that will play your old Game Boy games. Guitar Hero on Tour will only play on the DS Lite as well.
what about the prices listed in that memo. Are they accurate? Thats more than half off brand new titles! When can i get MK or P2 for that?!

@KBot That is probably the trade in prices as it mentions the Message Board which holds the trade in prices.

This will be sad as I still play many of my old GBA games like Pok?mon and there are many DS games that use the GBA slot.
