  • I'll stick with Asus.

    Some big box stores sell the G50Vt-X1 (and G50Vt-X5) models for under $1000. Awesome performance specs and feel solid; which can't always be said for similarly priced models or even one or two higher priced units.

    Sorry to name-drop, and I know Nokia makes great quality cell phones, but it will take a lot for me to drop existing brand loyalty -- only if Asus screws up big, and even then I won't be upgrading until 2011 or so. But Asus has made PC equipment for several years and has a sturdy reputation too.

    • Nokia will certainly not be the first to do so

      First because Nokia is always those last time and use more obselete technology than its competitors in the smartphones market.
      Second because Linux based ARM netbook should be available this year while Nokia doesn't intend to release its so called laptop before at least 2011,but more likely 2012.

  • Psion (netbooks) -> Symbian -> Nokia

    It completes the circle. Psion made some fantastic tiny laptop/PDAs back in the '90s. They run a propietary OS called Epoc. This was re-invented as a new OS Symbian which was also spun off as a company so that Symbian could also target mobile phones.
    Now Nokia owns Symbian and want to make netbooks again.
    I wonder if this is related to the trademark case between Psion and Dell.
