One of the highlights of the Nook Color is just how kid-friendly it is. Barnes & Noble has brought the same fun to the iPad, now with some improvements for that app as well as the Nook for iPhone app.

The Nook Kids for iPad app has several technical improvements, including enhanced zoom, the ability to change the text appearance, take notes and look up words. Over 12,000 children’s books are now supported by this app.

As for the Nook for iPhone program, version 2.1.1 has been customized to simplify the B&N account registration process as well as provide an orientation lock, among the other usual performance fixes.

Both Nook Kids and Nook for iPhone are available to download for free from iTunes now.
