Notion Ink Adam gets pricing; still waiting for FCC clearance

Summary: There’s a new tablet on the way: Notion Ink’s Adam. While a lot of pricing and specs are out in the open now, it still could be awhile before we see this computer on shelves.

There’s a new tablet on the way: Notion Ink’s Adam. While a lot of pricing and specs are out in the open now, it still could be awhile before we see this computer on shelves.

Notion Ink’s contribution to the tablet market will run on Android (version unknown, but hopefully at least Android 2.1 if it can’t roll out on Froyo right away), and it will be available in four possible configurations with four different price tags.

There are a few similarities across the board, including NVIDIA’s Tegra 2 chip and Wi-Fi. From there, everything appears to change, from Pixel Qi and LCD displays to Wi-Fi only editions or Wi-Fi+3G.

Pricing is predicted to range from $399 for the Wi-Fi only with an LCD screen up to $498 with the Pixel Qi and 3G.

Unfortunately, this thing hasn’t even hit up the FCC for approval yet. It’s scheduled for a visit in November, so we could see the Adam squeeze out for a holiday release or show up early next year instead.

From what it sounds like so far, this is the Dell Streak done right. But coming from a no-name manufacturer, you've gotta' wonder about this thing.

Surely they're not trying to piggy-back on *Motion* Computing...

Adam will get Froyo, they've announced it. But considering it will appear in December/January, and Gingerbread is coming in October/November, that is disappointing:
