Pandigital is trying its hand with a new e-book reader. But the Novel Personal eReader is distinctly different with an electronic ink motif.
The company known for making digital frames and other photo-related devices incurred numerous problems and inevitable price drops with the first Novel e-book reader.
The new Personal eReader is considerably different with a 6-inch ePaper display and 600 x 800 resolution. And instead of dual touch screen menus like the first version, users have a button-operated user interface at the bottom.
Compatible with both Mac and PC computers via miniUSB, the Personal eReader boasts the following specs:
- 2GB of internal space
- microSD memory card slot (expandable up to 32GB)
- Wi-Fi
- Access to the Barnes & Noble eBookstore
- Virtual keyboard
- Supports PDFs and ePUB formats
- Built-in speaker and stereo-mini headphone jack
- Dimensions: 4.88- x 6.75- x 0.38-inches
- Weight: 9.1 ounces
- Battery life: 6,000 page turns
The Novel Personal eReader will begin to roll out later this month for $199.99. It’s shocking to see Pandigital start so high with the pricing, especially this close to the holidays, considering that the Kindle and the Nook Wi-Fi-only versions start at $139.99 and $149.99 respectively.
Does this new Pandigital e-book reader pique your interest more than the first one?
