Photos surface of iPod Touch with rear built-in camera

Summary: After leaking some images of the upcoming Sony Alpha A290 digital SLR, it looks like the Vietnam-based site Tinhte has another major find: an iPod Touch with a rear built-in camera.

After leaking some images of the upcoming Sony Alpha A290 digital SLR, it looks like the Vietnam-based site Tinhte has another major find: an iPod Touch with a rear built-in camera.

While this prototype wasn’t found in a bar nor will it be as earth-shattering as the fourth-gen iPhone news, this is quite an upgrade for the iPod Touch if it is real.

And given the large collection of photos of this prototype compared with a real and current iPod Touch, everyone wants to believe it is real. I4U suspects they have a “source inside one of Apple’s manufacturers,” while Engadget thinks it might just be an old prototype and Mashable says that Apple just can’t keep a secret anymore.

Either way, I’m sure plenty of consumers would be more excited about the iPod Touch if there was a built-in camera. We could be seeing some news about this at WWDC 2010 in a few weeks. Although, if there’s going to be a product announcement, all signs are pointing towards the new iPhone taking center stage.

Big deal

I have an iPod Touch and it is a neat device but the battery life SUCKS!!! You can just barely watch a movie on it before it dies. Game play is limited. Turn wireless on and it is even worse. Yes, a camera is cool but unless Apple does something about battery life I wouldn't recommend these to anyone.

2MP camera? Are you serious!

Some website have reported that it will have a 2MP camera. 2MP! In the age of inexpensive components, couldn't Apple pony up some bucks for decent 4MP?
