Plastic Logic has yet again pushed back the shipping date for the much-delayed Que proReader e-ink device, sending those who pre-ordered the device a cancellation letter.
The “shatterproof” Que was first announced last October, followed by an appearance at CES 2010 in January. It was originally set to launch in mid-April, only to be delayed until June. That brings us to the present, where this e-mail is being sent out now:
Dear [XXXXX]:
Thank you for your commitment to the QUE ProReader and to Plastic Logic.
We’ve been working hard to bring the world’s first product based on plastic electronics technology to market — and have decided that delaying the device a bit longer will result in a better product for you. With that in mind, we need to let you know that since your unit will not ship on June 24 as planned, our automated ordering system has automatically cancelled your order.
We do hope, however, that you will stay on our list of customers interested in knowing about our progress and details of our upcoming product shipment. If you’d like to remain on our list, please click here.
We continue to be excited about the potential that our thin, light and shatter-proof ProReader will offer to business users everywhere, and hope we can count you among the first to experience this groundbreaking device.

At this rate, the device will never be released. What is possibly wrong with it that they can’t release it yet? Maybe the Que actually can shatter? Should they have not mentioned it in the first place and maybe waited until this October for an announcement?
If it ever does see the light of day again, with this many delays and the amount of uncertainty, Plastic Logic might not be able to sell any of these anyway.
