RIM refreshing Twitter for BlackBerry beta application

By | May 20, 2010, 12:40am PDT

Summary: RIM is gearing up a big refresh of the Twitter for BlackBerry smartphone beta application.

The iPhone isn’t alone when it comes to Twitter app news lately. RIM is gearing up a big refresh of the Twitter for BlackBerry smartphone beta application.

Slated to be completely finished and ready for download by Thursday evening, BlackBerry owners who like to tweet will be able to upload the beta program to their smartphones and take advantage of some of the features that reportedly stemmed from user requests.

There are several new features available with this software version, including auto @username completion, viewing geotagged tweets with BlackBerry Maps, direct access to other user profiles and a personal info guard that stops users from accidentally sharing sensitive info like PIN numbers. There’s also some basic support updates for photo viewing and new navigation hotkeys.
