Summary: If rumors are to be believed, then the wait for the BlackBerry PlayBook will soon be over.

If rumors are to be believed, then the wait for the BlackBerry PlayBook will soon be over.

According to “multiple sources” reporting into Boy Genius Report, RIM’s tablet entry will launch on April 10, closely following the BlackBerry Tablet OS hitting Gold Master status on March 31. It has already been reported that the PlayBook would launch in April for $499.99, so this would fall in line with that story. There is also speculation that 4G data service will be provided by Verizon Wireless.

We’ll find out later today whether or not the PlayBook will actually beat a particular Apple-made tablet to store shelves. It’s already fallen behind the Motorola Xoom.

Apple Launches Ipad 2 Next week and the playbook will launch nearly a whole month later.... although they lost the element of surprise i still have high hopes. I just hope that this doesn't hurt their chances for a good showing in sales

Hhhm, OS GM 10 days before ship date?
matthew_maurice 2nd Mar 2011
Any guesses on the over/under for the percentage of devices bricked by a full OS update on activation? Shipping a device with a beta OS is stupid, forcing users to update the whole OS right out of the box, literally, is crazy. Anyone know if this will be an OTA update? They deserve credit if they pull it off, but it definitely makes me glad I won't be an early-adopter.

Wasn't this thing announced a year ago?!!!

@browser. well your company sure is waiting for it. for one its definitely more secure than any android tablet, and it connects to everyone's blackberrys
@rocketboy5114
Really?? seriously???
@hasam1991
Yes. Companies are waiting for this one and the Cisco Cius with bated breath.
@browser. Now that is quite a statement my friend. Obviously there are many waiting for it; one of whom is not you. That is ok, but there will be a significant number who find it to be the tablet they need. Not every good item has to sell multiple millions in order to be needed. Some people even buy some other car than my Toyota!
