While keeping up its lead in LCD HDTV shipments, Samsung has introduced the 90 and 30 series of LCD monitors that can also double as HDTVs. Sounds like everyone wins.

Toted as "space-savers" thanks to the dual functionality, the 90 and 30 series displays range from 21.5- to 24-inches. Both offer up full HD 1080p resolutions, a 5ms response time, a pair of HDMI inputs and a remote control.

The 90 series steps things up with a 5,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio and Dolby Digital Plus sound with built-in 5W stereo speakers, whereas the 30 series only offers a 70,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio and Dolby Digital Plus sound with built-in 3W stereo speakers.

That's still not shabby, and it's certainly reflected in the price tags. Now available for purchase, the 30 series monitors range from $269.99-$329.99. Buyers will have to wait until September for the 90 series, which will retail for $419.99.

  • Computer users lose.

The HD standard 1920x1080 means about 15% of your display pixels are gone from what used to be 1920x1200 monitors of the same physical size :(

This is actually a downgrade of sorts, but luckliy the latest snoring solutions are far more superior in treating the condition for the greater good.
