Hugely popular even before its release, Samsung's Galaxy S II is coming in July, according to Verizon.

Already greeted with massive pre-orders, the Galaxy S II is quickly nearing its release.

So says Verizon, which has confirmed that plans to sell the Samsung smartphone this July. Sadly, Verizon, for some reason or another, has declined to provide an exact date for the Galaxy S II's release - so this is all we are going to get for now.

Update: Apparently the Verizon spokeswoman that ComputerWorld spoke with had her wires crossed and was actually referring to the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 when she gave the Galaxy S II's July release date. That's not too surprising, really, considering the similarities between the two devices' names. Looks like the wait for the S II's actual release date continues.

Verizon, of course, won't be the only carrier to sell the Galaxy S II, or Galaxy S II Function, as it will likely be called on Big Red. Sprint and AT&T will also get their own versions of the phone, known as the Within and Attain, respectively.

Reactions to the phone have already been pretty impressive, with Samsung announcing last month that it had received three million pre-orders for the device by the end of April. Clearly Samsung has a hit on its hands.
