Although it was hoped to be released before the end of 2009, Sony Ericsson won't debut its Xperia X2 smartphone until January 2010 at the earliest. Apparently the delay is due to some problems with the handheld's system software.

The fixes better be good because there are plenty of other releases to look forward to right now. Announced a few months ago, Sony is promising quite a bit in this new quad-band GSM phone. The Xperia X2 will run on Windows Mobile 6.5, include Flash support in Internet Explorer Mobile and will have push email via Microsoft Exchange. There's also the now-typical features like Bluetooth, GPS, and Wi-Fi.

The slider phone has a full QWERTY keyboard, 8.0-megapixel autofocus camera built-in, a microSDHC card slot and a 3.2-inch WVGA touch screen.

We might see this in the first week of January, but we're not sure how much this will cost yet.
