While Apple TV and iTunes upgrades are definitely the big talk of the day, there’s another TV entertainment service with news. Sony’s Qriocity video-on-demand service is expanding in Europe.

Announced at IFA 2010 in Berlin today, the streaming platform is headed to France, Germany, Spain, Italy and the U.K. this fall. Qriocity has been in the United States since April.

In case you need a refresher (or have never heard of this program before), Qriocity supports SD and HD movie playback with content from Hollywood studios such as 20th Century Fox, Lionsgate, MGM, Universal Paramount Pictures, Disney, Warner Bros., and (of course) Sony Pictures. Consumers can access this service via Bravia HDTVs and Blu-ray disc players.

A new cloud-based feature called “Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity” will also launch by the end of this year. But instead of just being available on HDTVs and Blu-ray players, interested consumers should be able to access this service via PlayStation 3, VAIO computers and other Sony mobile devices.

The on-demand streaming service market is getting more crowded each day, but it’s nice to see so many more competitive options out there.
