PlayStation Home will become a lot more interactive and game-like this fall, with Sony overhauling the PlayStation Home on the PlayStation Network for the PlayStation 3.

According to the PlayStation Blog, the new design will feature a revamped Hub (pictured above) that:

Brings an ever changing roster of games right to the center of Home, including Cogs from Codename: Lazy 8 Studios which will be featured front and center on day one. The Hub will also feature a new Activity Board filled with games to play, rewards to be won, a new UGC [user-generated content] events system, and cool stuff to discover.

The Activity Board will also transform into a game for those who are interested in completing quests that fit into a wider narrative time, as the board will be frequently updated with community events that players can participate in. From the Hub, players can teleport to other parts of this virtual theme park to search for additional games with similar themes, from Action District to Pier Park:

  • Sportswalk: A stadium like environment with up-to-the-minute major league sports scores, headlines, news and of course games.
  • Adventure District: A virtual beach where players can discover adventure-based games
  • Pier Park: For players looking for carnival, puzzle, outdoor and arcade games, and even indie and arcade games, in a park complete with boardwalk and a Ferris wheel (see below).

  • Action District: For action, shooter and horror games, players can visit this gritty and dark virtual city (below).

These preliminary screenshots of the new PlayStation Home look fantastic, now let's hope the revamped world will run smooth and quick so players can get to their games and not just stare at a pretty load screen.
