Sony Japan has gotten official with the latest version of the PlayStation 3 Slim, which will be available in "classic white" starting on July 29.

The white PS3 Slim (also known by the code name "CECH-2500") will include a 160GB hard drive and be priced at ¥29,980 ($341). Sony is also releasing a 320GB version of the PS3 Slim for ¥34,980 ($398), but that one will only be available in basic black.

Unfortunately, like most cool things, it looks like this snow-capped PS3 Slim will only be available in Japan at first. No word on when we'll see it on the other side of the Pacific.

  • Same price as normal Slim

I am in Japan now and that price is the same price as normal here so if it ever does come to the US then it should still be for the $299 price that is normal there.

Yes, that's how Sony likes to do things in terms of pricing (at least on the gaming stuff). X amount of currency in the local unit. So $300, Y300, 300 pounds (I don't know how to make the symbol with ascii)

The gloss actually isn't that big of a deal. I think the non-capacitive buttons are the one thing wrong with the look of the new hardware. Grey buttons. Hm....
