Spotted: Asus smartphone running Windows Phone 7? (photo)

Summary: As summer releases are on the low side, there’s plenty of leaked photos popping up, including this one of a handheld marked with an Asus trademark and looks to be running Windows Phone 7.

While everyone is obsessing over the Android 2.2 roll out and even dealing with Apple’s iOS 4.0.1, let’s not forget about the impending release of Windows Phone 7.

And as summer releases are on the low side, there’s plenty of leaked photos popping up, including this one of a handheld marked with an Asus trademark and looks to be running WP7.

According to Pocket Now, this portable device reportedly first popped up in Pakistan. Here we can see a serial number, an Asus logo, a Windows button in the lower center and a very nice brushed metal casing. There is also a small, mysterious circle up top, which could either be a camera or some sort of sensor. A front-facing camera seems very likely these days.

Again, we have no way of knowing for sure yet if this is the real deal, but it’s exciting to see some new devices with this awaited operating system already.

If that really is how the UI of WP7 looks .... it is going to be a TOTAL FAILURE. It is pretty much the UI of the Kin ... only uglier.
@wackoae
What matters most to you, beauty & aesthetics?
I'm looking for quality construction, not aesthetics.
This's the reason why I don't read comments. Too dumb......................................................lol!
Talk about being too dumb .... but don't have the intelligence to look in the mirror.

I've seen quite a few videos of the WP7 and it is growing on me all the time. There are still some showstoppers for me so I won't be getting the first release but MS has truly, truly innovated with the WP7 UI. The thing I find most striking about the iPhone is how app centric it is. You don't think about what you want to do, you must think first of how you want to do it, hunt through pages of icons to find the right one, and then start it up. I think for a smartphone, a task oriented UI is the way to go.

I can't wait to see what MS will do with WP7.5!
