Spotted: Possible iPod touch with front-facing camera

There’s a lot of buzz surrounding the potential of some new iPods being released next month, and the rumor fire is being fueled with images of what many suspect to be a new iPod touch…with an obvious new feature.

Published first by Mac Rumors, the front part reveals a spot for a front-facing camera and a date stamp for April 29, 2010, leading many to believe that we’ll be seeing this model announced in September.

An iPod touch with a camera isn’t unlikely in the slightest. It’s already been reported that the FaceTime feature will be headed for the iPod touch as well as the iPad, thus built-in cameras should be on the way for both. Furthermore, an image of an iPod with a rear camera surfaced earlier this year. An iPod touch with two cameras would put it more on par with the iPhone 4, but it might be a bit unnecessary for an MP3 player.

Finally, a new iPod Shuffle might also pop up this fall, and the verity of that leaked tiny touchscreen photo might be the real deal.

About that darned antenna...will they be able to receive Wi-Fi??

Not all of us want that expensive phone contractior e-book reader when we can purchase a pre-paid disposable phone and do everything else, including corporate office work, on a Touch.
Would be nice, but don't think a rear facing cam is necessarily needed to sell well. The retina display and front cam for FaceTime will drive these off the shelves.
Call it an IPhone 4 without the phone function - Oh wait ... the IPhone 4 does not have a phone function happy

@PhilDuf
LMAO...you are SO right!!!
@PhilDuf can't afford one, eh? Sour grapes are tasty at times.
@dheady@... I can't decide if you reading comprehension is nonexistent or you're such a Apple fan boy that you refuse to acknowledge that there's a design flaw in the the latest version.
Until they can get FaceTime working reasonably well without requiring wifi connection, it's a toy intended to invoke the "cool factor" (which Apple is now starting to fail at, even with the Apple faithful), nothing more.

Using the front facing camera for some type of facial recognition for security or functionality would be great but I don't think Apple is going in that direction.
@PollyProteus millions of iPads, millions of iPhones, can't make them fast enough. Yeah, failure, that's what that is.
@dheady@... And losing marketshare every month. Why? Because not enough people want to be a part of the apple bs and the jobs rdf. HTC alone sells more phones a month than apple. With all the other mfgs makin and selling phones as fast as they can apple is doomed.
