All Starbucks aficionados with a BlackBerry or iOS device will have more than just a cup of coffee to be happy about this morning. You can now pay for that coffee using only your smartphone!

We already know that you'd be holding that handheld while waiting in line at your local Starbucks using up the free Wi-Fi, so this really simplifies things.

All you have to do is download the free mobile app for either an iPhone/iPod touch or BlackBerry. From there you can update your relevant gift card and credit card information, search for the nearest Starbucks (even though you could already do that with Google Maps), and check your Starbucks Rewards status. iPhone users can also pay with PayPal.

The mobile payment program is only available in all U.S. Starbucks locations at the moment. (But that's still a lot of places to pick up a latte with a smartphone!)

  • Android?

    MAN I miss my iPhone, new and cool apps always come out on iPhone first. Too bad I'm stuck with a Galaxy S loaded with crapware on Android 2.1...

    Oh Apple, why did I ever believe the hype and leave you?

  • No BB Torch Support

    Why roll out a Blackberry app without support for the newest devices?

  • wait, no android support?

    why is that? isn't android the most important mobile platform out there? oh wait, maybe it's because people that buy android are cheap freetards that don't spend much money so the whole platform isn't that much of a interest to developers (see starbucks app).

      Seriously? Dude, Android smartphones are similarly priced to iphone and blackberry, and the starbucks app is free so the cheapness argument is BS. Most Likely, Fourbucks realized that android users know their coffee is crap and they drink dunkin donuts instead and didn't bother. This argument is as valid as the crap u posted.

      • Or....

        @KBot

        Could it be that Google does zero quality screening for malware apps and it would be easy for Fourbucks to get screwed in the Roid hole via some other Roid app???

        One of the main reasons Roids will always be second class citizen devices.

    Is this at actual stand alone Starbucks stores or just the ones in Target? If it's the Target ones the app had had the pay from iPhone feature for around a year now.
