Sometimes bad things happen to good consoles. For all the promise and excitement elicited by Nintendo’s soon-to-be-replaced Wii, the device has of late become the perfect example of console whose support has not matched its potential.
This seems to be the meaning embedded in these images provided to Wired by its readers, who tell similar tales of Wii consoles covered in dust and in varying states of un-use. Readers describe their Wii usage in no positive terms, using words like “atrophied”, “disappointed”, and “forgot.” That’s pretty sad considering how popular and well-supported the Wii was at its peak. But with the Wii U on the horizon, it is clear that Nintendo has shifted its focus to the next generation, leaving current Wii owners with a sad and neglected device with nothing to play - at least until The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword comes out.
Until then, disillusioned Wii owners can do for themselves one big favor and clean their houses. That dust is everywhere.
